Does anyone have any simple, tasty recipes for sides to make during Thanksgiving?

This will easily replace mashed potatoe OR yam, or possibly both if you want a big dish. This is easier. Buy baking pumkins(that's the SMALL ones), figuring 3 or 4 people to a pumkin, half them and place face down on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes, until soft. Don't dress up this marvelous, nutty, luscious treat-- just butter, salt & pepper. They scoop out easily into a smooth mashed potato-like dish, or serve on the halves, with a bit of butter sinking into each one. I can't beieve people don't eat these all the time, they are incredibly good. They taste just like-- well PUMPKIN! :)
